Her Story

Janelle’s path to becoming a mental health provider began long before any degree or licensure. As a passionate young athlete growing up in a small town, her dream was to play college sports. That dream was realized, but it was also deeply scarred by trauma when she experienced sexual assault by her coach. In the aftermath, Janelle faced silence, disbelief, and the weight of trying to find her voice in a world that wasn’t ready to hear it. Through years of personal healing and professional growth, she found not only her voice but also her calling. Her lived experience became the foundation for a career built on empathy, advocacy, and unwavering commitment to others who are healing.

Her Advocacy

In addition to her clinical work, Janelle is an active voice for systemic change in sports culture and mental health. She serves on the Board of Directors for The Army of Survivors, an organization dedicated to supporting athletes who have experienced abuse. Her advocacy work has taken her to Capitol Hill, where she has spoken directly with lawmakers and policy leaders about the need for safer, trauma-informed environments in athletics. Through keynotes, workshops, and national events, Janelle uses her platform to raise awareness, challenge injustice, and inspire others to speak up and take action.
